“Transitioning from full-time professional career to student and mom definitely came with its challenges. My prior work with the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security had been great, but the onset of Covid combined with additional personal reasons, inspired me to want to help people. After receiving an x-ray, I realize that an x-ray technician was a career path I’d be interested and signed up for the program at Middlesex College.
My professors were truly compassionate and patient. They were so understanding of the fact that I was going through a new chapter of life as a mom and student. Middlesex College was the best choice for me.
As class representative for the Radiography Education Program, I learned of various opportunities to leverage the Community Resource Hub & Food Pantry. When course clinical experience was required, I was able to put aside my pride and ask for assistance when it came to transportation. The Radiography program’s clinical sites can be quite a distance (depending on where you’re assigned) and often require gas and tolls. Gas cards for transportation through the Community Resource Hub & Food Pantry truly helped me through what could have been a challenging time.
Getting the resources I needed to help me succeed inspired me to give back immediately. Now, the radiography students are able to access scrubs if they need them through the Hub.
I’m currently in the Cooperman Barnabas program and plan to become a radiation Therapist upon completion of the program.”
